To The Man… by Heph

To The Man Who Has Been Told He Is Not Doing Enough…..

I feel your burden. It’s not easy, I know. I understand that people don’t see how much you do, how much you want to do, how hard you try not to be a disappointment…… to those you love.

I understand.

I know you have been restless, trying. That you lose rest, not for you, for those you love, whose burden you gladly share.

Hold’on brother.

I know you have been told that your manliness is measured by your achievements. I know you are constantly weighed side by side ‘Real Men’. Of course, your achievements pale in comparison to theirs; and no matter how much you achieve, there are always real men to be compared to.

It’s funny, isn’t it?

I understand that the world has evolved and everyone says now that you don’t have to carry as much burden as you do anymore. I know how much you wish this were true. I understand the weight hasn’t been alleviated one bit.

Hold’on egbon.

Then there’s you! You have dreams big and small unrealized. You sometimes get tired of dreaming. Maybe it will just be alright if you could just meet the needs and expectations of those who care and do not. Maybe not everyone is meant to realize their dreams after all.

I know how it feels.

I understand that you love deeply and you give freely and things would just be a whole lot better if……….

Just hang in there!

I am not trying to help lift your burden neither am I trying to give you advice, you will get a lot of that today.

I just want to tell you that I understand. I do. I also want to remind you that many of what you have been told and will be told are lies. You are a man and a better man, you are becoming. I celebrate you.

Just hang in there!
