How Do You See Life?

Dear Adéọlá-mi,

You see, I’m looking forward to our life together. I’m really curious. Sometimes, I just sit and imagine the moments, the different phases, the challenges, the victories, and all we will share together.

Contrary to how I see people talk about these things, my expectations are quite interesting. I’m not trying to get you to come become this or that to me. My artistic mind is too curious to restrict life to only my own worldview and perception.

And that’s what excites me the most.

Up until the time we’ll start life, you should know that all I’ve had is my life, the life of those who raised me, and other such influences. Why would I want to restrict my scope of experience to that?

Dear, I am anticipating.

How do you see life?
How do you do your life?
Why do you react the way you do?
What am I learning from you?

I know how my mum cooks her rice, and I’ve grown accustomed to that. How do you know to cook yours? Who will change for who? Will you like the old school pounded yam? Or will you prefer the other alternatives? Will I win you over or the other way round?

I hope you are not allergic to ‘Dodo’, that golden brown treasure. It’s my own weakness. Now think of ‘Dodo served in Bikini. “Oh… Jesus!!! ”

What change are you bringing?
What uniqueness?

What’s your perception of interior decoration?
Does it coincide with mine? Or are you bringing a new experience?
Will we argue about it? You can be sure I’ll tease you should I ever feel it is archaic?
Will you help me see it in a new lens? Or will we create a new style from both?

Are we going to speak the same language? The same with different dialects?
Or am I going to find your native tongue entirely funny?

Babe, I’m curious.
Such endless possibilities
Such beauty unfolding

Babe, let’s live
Babe, let’s be unencumbered by the narratives of our stereotypes

Let’s live selectively and intelligently
Let’s have fun and be crazy
Let’s talk, experiment, and be foolish
Let’s make ours a unique one

Adéọlá-mi, I can’t wait to begin this journey with you.

I am the ImisiOluwa;

Love you Plenty.
